Dealing with climate change requires innovation and independence: SWISSAID has launched a project with farmers in Ecuador, Colombia and Nicaragua that is based on a digital app. In the “Agroecological-Adaptation-Labs”, or “AeD-LABs” , farmers exchange information about their farming methods and innovations via an app or messenger service. The goal is to strengthen resilience against gradual climatic changes and weather extremes. The farmers use simple methods to measure precipitation, temperature, humidity, and soil conditions to calculate the water consumption of each plant. In this way, the sparsely available water can be used optimally.
Through agroecology, farmers are contributing to the improvement of food security, the preservation of biodiversity and promote resilience to climate change with the help of SWISSAID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
