Latin America has been severely affected by the corona pandemic. The pandemic has dealt Colombia a double blow: poor and marginalised populations are suffering hunger due to quarantine measures and loss of income, and human rights defenders and activists are being murdered in their homes during curfews. We interview Alejandra Miller Restrepo about the impact of the epidemic on the population, on women and on the work of Colombia’s Truth Commission. She is a member of our International Board and of the Colombian Truth Commission.

Statement About the Corona Pandemic: It`s time to act!

The Indian author and activist Arundhati Roy described the corona pandemic as "a portal between one world and the next". Humans can now choose a new world for which we would be prepared to fight. PeaceWomen Across the Globe also wishes that the pandemic can lead to a change in thinking, paving the way to the more peaceful and just world that we have been working towards for 15 years. However, without increased global solidarity and cooperation with and between civil society actors, no new world can emerge beyond the portal. Read the full statement here.
