Start of the New Swiss Human Rights Institution (NMRI)

After 25 years of dicussions and work the NMRI will be founded in May 2023. This also implies a turning point for humanrights.ch. Besides its own new orientation, humanrights.ch seeks to hand over its database with basic documentation of human rights and their implementation in Switzerland.

The next Café de la Paix will consist of reports from three countries in the Horn of Africa. Abel Atsbeha will speak about Ethiopia and the war in Tigray. Pheben Asgehedom will give insights to Eritrea and the current situation and Bashir Gobdon will report on Somalia and the famine there.

New Publication: "Civil Society as Prerequisit for Success"

KOFF gender experts Yasmine Janah & Dr Anna Antonakis wrote an article on the open debate meeting on Resolution 1325 under Mozambique's Presidency of the UNSC for the SGA-ASPE. The article highlights the importance of the UN Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda as a domestic and foreign policy agenda and concludes that civil society is a necessary condition to support gender-sensitive peace policies, not least in the context of Switzerland’s current seat on the UN Security Council and the forthcoming draft of the Swiss 5th NAP.

cfd is looking for a project manager for the campaign "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence". The objective of the campaign is to prevent violence and to raise awareness. More than 200 organizations are involved. The campaign is currently being conducted in 16 cantons in German-speaking Switzerland and occasionally in French-speaking Switzerland.
