A fundamental question has repeatedly surfaced within the KOFF platform lately: What does it mean to work for peace today, and how can we demonstrate real impact amid declining support for international cooperation?
Against this backdrop, the contributors to this à propos edition offer reflections on what peacebuilding means today, and on how we can measure and strengthen our contribution to it. While they approach peacebuilding from different angles, a common thread runs through their pieces: the urgent need to keep pursuing a positive peace rooted in human security, participation, and local ownership.
On impact specifically, the call echoed across the platform is to move beyond purely quantitative measures toward more meaningful qualitative indicators of our work’s impact. Such insights can show how peacebuilding strengthens more resilient and prosperous communities, while allowing us to learn from both successes and failures and address violence and protracted crises more effectively.
