Today, only a few dispute the need for gender equality. Everyone should receive the same wage for the same work, everyone should be able to vote and thus and thus contribute to the political life of a country, and all must have access to education. But is this enough? What do we mean by "equality"?

KoBra is showing the Brazilian documentary film "América Armada" by Alice Lanari and Pedro Asbeg in cooperation with terre des hommes Switzerland. The documentary follows three activists who campaign against armed violence in Brazil, Colombia and Mexico. The filmscreening will be followed by a discussion with the filmmakers and an activist from Salvador on the background of armed violence and the problems of arms exports to Latin America.

SDC has the mandate to prevent and respond to sexual and gender-based violence against all people. The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Peasants and Other People Working in Rural Areas (UNDROP) was adopted by the UN General Assembly three years ago. At the Land Forum 2021, HEKS together with a coalition of Swiss NGOs called “The Friends of the Declaration” and the Geneva Academy will seek ways in which the Swiss government and civil society can further engage to translate the rights enshrined in the UNDROP into reality in their international engagement.
