16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence

Every second week a woman or a person who is read as a woman is killed in Switzerland, because she is a woman or is read as a woman.The focus of this years 16-day-campaign are feminicides. The campaign informs about these feminicides with its different aspects as form of gender-based violence. Moreover, it demands various measures to end this killing. Different events will take place all over Switzerland.

Café de la paix: Femicide - Being a woman as reason for being killed

Ni Una Menos (not one less) is a movement that is active in Switzerland as well. The movement developed in Argentina in 2015 as a response to the killing of women. Women from Ni Una Menons in Zurich will talk about their work against femicide.

The documentary "Matronas" documents Salvadoran midwives of the Rosa Andrade association, who already provided obstetrics during the civil war (1980-1991). Today they fight for recognition and protection of their traditional role in the basic health care system. Afterwards a discussion with Maja Hess (Doctor, Psychiatrists & President of medico international switzerland & Vilma Coreas Guzmán (Coordinator of the midwives association "Rosa Andrade" in Suchitoto) will take place.
