KOFF is hosting a roundtable at which Prof. Dr. Leben Nelson Moro, the Director of the Institute for Peace, Development and Security Studies of the University of Juba, South Sudan, will share his perspectives on the dynamic of ongoing international and local peacemaking efforts and on its implications on the future of South Sudan.

Sometimes even to the point where it is difficult for people to set their own boundaries. This intrinsic drive is, however, also coupled with expectations. Volunteers want to do meaningful work in which they can get involved.

Are there technological solutions that can make elections fairer and thus more peaceful in future?

On 3 July 2018, at a press conference civil society announced the publication of their country report on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in Switzerland. Chapter 11 (p. 58) of the report is dedicated to SDG 16 “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions”. On 20 June, Switzerland published the official country report on the matter.

At the KOFF annual assembly, three speakers initiated the discussions on the Agenda 2030, and particularly on the Sustainable Development Goal 16 (SDG 16) on just and peaceful societies. Maja Messmer (Human Security Division at the FDFA), Martin Roch (conflict and human rights network at the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation) and Peter Hug (Social Democrats Switzerland) provided insights into the opportunities and limitations of SDG implementation in Swiss government, parliament and society.
