Join the tdh Roundtable when the visiting activists present their work and speak about police violence in Bahia, Brazil, involving children and adolescents. The speakers will discuss reparations for relatives of victims of police violence, focusing on the question: What can we do to support the advocacy on international level?

In the film, asylum seekers relive their hearing on their reasons for fleeing, shedding light on the core of the asylum procedure. The film gives insights into the delicate interview situation for the first time and also questions the asylum procedure itself.

Strategic litigation refers to court proceedings that are used specifically to close gaps in human rights protection. In this way, structural human rights violations are addressed in court on the basis of a specific case.

For the theater project Converting Eviction – a collaboration between Sello Pesa/Ntsoana (Johannesburg) and Tim Zulauf/KMUProduktionen (Zurich) – the participants looked at global and Swiss involvement in the South African apartheid era. How can the consequences of the apartheid and the current struggles for reparations, debt relief and displacement be explored from an artistic point of view? And what could be a format, that does not simply perpetuate existing disparities?

KOFF Film Screening: Persepolis

Together with the Stadtkino Basel, KOFF has organized a film screening of “Persepolis” with a film discussion afterwards. The award-winning film tells the coming-of-age story of Marjane, who grew up in Teheran during the Iranian Revolution. The film discussion with Behruz Rafati (Network Free Iran), and Anna Antonakis (KOFF/swisspeace) will build a bridge to the current situation of civil society in Iran and engage with topics like the role of art as expression for dealing with the trauma of displacement and war.

Eirene Suisse innvites you to the film screening of "La hija de todas las rabias" by Nicaraguan director Laura Baumeister. This film tells the story of Maria and her mother Lilibeth, who live in precarious conditions on the edge of Nicaragua's largest rubbish dump. One day, the little girl doesn't see her mother coming back. She begins a dialogue with a new friend, Tadeo, who helps her overcome her fear and rage. After the film screening, from 3:45 pm, there will be a space to share and exchange on the activities of Eirene Suisse at the Espace Hornung.

Two years ago, artasfoundation founded the Centre for Art and Peacebuilding (CAP) together with the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). Since then, they have been asked again and again: Do you really want the big word “peace” in the title? And what is this field of activity called peacebuilding? At the event, Dagmar Reichert, who initiated the CAP, will begin by sharing her understanding of peacebuilding. Dana Landau, a researcher and lecturer at Swisspeace, the Swiss peace foundation, will respond to her presentation in a co-lecture and then open a joint discussion.
