Civil Society Consultations for the Swiss NAP 1325

We are currently in the joint process of coordinating a participatory consultation process among Swiss civil society and academic experts to channel civil society priorities for the next National Action Plan (NAP) for the implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda into the drafting of the 5th Swiss NAP 1325, as well as an exchange with the Swiss administration. To this end, two hearings will be organized in Bern (on 19th September and 16th November 2023).

If you want to attend and contribute to this process, please sign up.

NO CARE, NO PEACE! Contributions from civil society on Switzerland’s implementation of the UN Women, Peace and Security Agenda

The care economy - which predominantly relies on women's work - is in a constant state of crisis. This is a barrier to political participation for anyone active in this economy. This booklet explains how socio-economic barriers, and care-work in particular, hinder women's participation in political and peace processes and offers recommendations on how Swiss policy can address this problem and thus increase the potential of its Women Peace and Security agenda.

Read the booklet (en, de, fr) and register for the Virtual Conference “Centering Care in Women, Peace and Security” ( 21 September 2021, 1.45pm-4.45pm).

Virtual Conference: Centering Care in Women, Peace and Security

For the first time, civil society is an implementing partner in Switzerland’s National Action Plan 1325. The past two years were dedicated to investigating how care relates to women’s participation and peacebuilding.

This virtual conference is the culmination of this project where key findings will be presented and discussed in a broader context with civil society actors and policymakers.

KOFF Master Class on Involuntary Immobility - Implications for Peace(building)

When addressing migration in peacebuilding, not only people on the move are relevant, but also people who are affected by some sort of negative migration outcome or involuntary immobility. There is great need for regular migration routes, for a broadened ability to migrate, and for a decriminalization of migration in general.

This was discussed in a KOFF Master Class back in February 2021. The conversations, insights, and concepts that were brought up during the Master Class, are critically reflected in this article.

Moving towards peace: migration in peacebuilding policy and practice

This policy brief summarizes the findings of a joint learning process on peacebuilding and migration, facilitated by KOFF – the Swiss Platform for Peacebuilding, and the resulting web toolbox on migration in peacebuilding. It highlights the relevance of a systematic and strategic engagement with migration in peacebuilding, showcases some practical examples and points to areas that need further investment and attention from the peace policy sector.

Feminist Foreign Policy - Implications for the Women, Peace and Security Agenda

We are observing an increase in countries that are adopting a feminist foreign policy (FFP). Sweden, France and Mexico have launched their FFP programs in 2014, 2019 and 2020, while Canada is bound to announce its FFP strategy this year. At this roundtable KOFF brings together official representatives from these countries, Swiss administration and from civil society organizations to address questions such as: What is a feminist foreign policy? What do these policies entail and how do they relate to the Women, Peace and Security agenda?
