Peace(ful) opportunities: Gender, Migration and Peacebuilding

Power relations, gender norms and unequal rights shape the migration choices and experiences of women and men. Gender therefore needs to be considered in all aspects of our work related to migration and forced displacement. To shed some light on the topic, the SDC Network on Migration and Gender decided to launch a call for contribution on gender, migration and forced displacement. Numerous articles and resources have reached us demonstrating the vivid interest of network members and friends in the issue. KOFF also submitted an article to the Gender & Migration dossier, which is now published online.

How to become the host of hope

An exceptional and challenging year is coming to an end. Covid19 has strongly influenced the work in our worldwide projects. We also had to cancel the Kitchen Battle, our most important charity event. This is a great pity and is now becoming noticeable: We are missing 100'000.- francs of income. And more than 100 people who are registering as new members at the Kitchen Battle. Therefore we ask you today: Become a member of Cuisine sans frontières. Or support us with a donation. With your contribution, you can support the establishment of a women's café in the refugee camp Burj El Barajneh in Lebanon or our gastronomy school El Fogon on the Rio Napo in Ecuador.

Digital systems have transformed the way that we work. They offer opportunities to increase data accuracy, check progress, produce solid evidence – and save time. But what’s the best way to put in place such systems and what are the concrete gains? This blog explores how HELVETAS is using digital tools to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their work in Asia.

16 Days Against Violence against women

This year, the campaign "16 Days against Violence against Women*" will focus on motherhood and violence. Mothers are diverse - politically committed, working, single parents, women-loving / lesbian / queer, with disabilities, chronic illnesses, migration background or a history of flight. But not every woman* can or wants to be a mother. The days of action (25.11.-10.12.) make us aware that motherhood is manifold. Let us stand up together and strongly against violence against women*.
